Ouagadougou: The President of the special delegation (PDS) of the commune of Gogo, Issa Tiendr©b©ogo, and officials of Kiaka SA reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a continuous dialogue with the local communities during the second ordinary session of 2026 of the Departmental Framework for consultation with stakeholders.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting included administrative, customary, and religious authorities, civil society organizations, decentralized technical services, representatives of Kiaka SA, and various community members affected by the mining project. The discussions focused on corporate social responsibility actions, activities of companies operating on the mining site, and future local development opportunities.
Two presentations highlighted the session. The first, by the PDS, reviewed Kiaka SA's achievements for the community and the projects planned for 2026. These include the construction of a school complex in Guilaw©ogo, installation of solar systems at the Nagrigr© Health and Social Promotion Center, construction of shops for Agricultural Equipment Cooperatives in Guilaw©ogo, and donations for internally displaced persons, widows, and orphans of fallen combatants.
Future actions announced by the PDS include the rehabilitation of drinking water infrastructure in Kop©lin-Centre and Niassa primary schools, construction and equipping of the CSPS in Guilaw©ogo, renovation of the primary school in Kop©lin, and funding for cervical cancer and HIV screening campaigns.
The second presentation, led by Evaris Gandema, Superintendent of Community Relations at Kiaka SA, focused on the company's corporate social responsibility strategy. He emphasized CSR as a strategic tool for sustainable mining activities through local development promotion, environmental protection, and participatory governance. His presentation outlined four pillars of the CSR policy: community dialogue, socio-economic development, environmental management, and transparency and accountability.
Gandema also noted that Kiaka SA prioritizes local companies and service providers from Zoundw©ogo and Boulgou provinces, provided they meet quality, safety, and competitiveness standards.
Following the presentations, participants expressed their concerns, which were addressed by the speakers. Issa Tiendr©b©ogo concluded the session by commending Kiaka SA's support for the community and urging the continuation of dialogue and consultation in addressing mining project-related issues. Participants expressed appreciation for the discussions and reaffirmed their commitment to building a trust-based partnership aimed at inclusive and sustainable local development.
