Khwisero Member of Parliament Christopher Aseka has warned students against using drugs, asking them to instead commit themselves to advanced learning.
He emphasised their need for continued commitment to education and to shun vices that lead to drug addiction and crime.
‘You must put more emphasis on education and shun such immoralities that lead to increased crime and abuse of drugs in our locality,’ he said.
Aseka was speaking Thursday to students, teachers, parents and other administrators at Eshibinga Secondary School in Kisa East Ward, Khwisero Sub County.
‘Our goal is to elevate this institution to the status of a centre of exceptional student achievement in academics, sports and related talents,’ he said.
The MP also gave out a cheque for Sh1.5 million for the renovation of classrooms at Eshibinga Primary School, which is adjacent to the secondary section. The money came from the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF).
The legislator took his time to encourage the students, most of whom come from poor backgrounds, to take their studies seriously and score high in academics for a better future.
The MP further committed to purchasing a school bus for Eshibinga Secondary School.
