Otjiwarongo: The Khomas Region’s Namibian Police Force (NamPol) teams emerged victorious at the 2025 annual police sports games held at Otjiwarongo’s Paresis Sports Stadium. They were crowned champions after securing five trophies in various categories, including football, volleyball, and athletics.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Commissioner Ferdinand Nangolo, Chairperson of the NamPol Sports Council, announced the results at the conclusion of the 28th NamPol championship. The Khomas NamPol teams excelled, winning in female football, male football, athletics, and both male and female volleyball competitions. Their outstanding performance earned them gold medals and the title of overall champions for this year’s event.
Other regions also showcased strong performances in different categories. Kunene took home the trophy in the police drilling category, Oshana excelled in darts, Ohangwena won the catapult event, Erongo was victorious in chess, Oshikoto triumphed in pull, and Otjozondjupa clinched the netball competition.
NamPol Inspector-General, Lieutenant-General Joseph Shikongo, emphasized the championship’s success in achieving its primary objectives, such as maintaining discipline, fostering teamwork, and enhancing physical and mental fitness among NamPol members. Over 1,600 police officers from 14 regions participated in the week-long event.
Shikongo also announced that the Erongo Region will host the 29th NamPol championship games in 2026. In addition, he took the opportunity to promote four officers to new ranks during the event.
