CHICAGO: Kenyan runner John Korir clinched first place at the Chicago Marathon, finishing the 42.195 km race in 2 hours 2 minutes 43 seconds. According to Burkina Information Agency, Korir's victory adds to the prestige of the Chicago Marathon, an event that has been celebrated since 1977 and forms part of the World Marathon Majors series. This series includes other high-profile races in cities such as Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, and New York. The record for the fastest marathon is held by another Kenyan, Kelvin Kiptum, who completed a marathon in 2 hours and 35 seconds. Tragically, Kiptum passed away in a car accident on February 12 at the age of 24.
