Nairobi: The Kenyan government has expressed its intention to acquire services from the Angola Satellite, Angosat-2, specifically utilizing its Ku-band for broadband internet, mobile telephony, radio broadcasting, and TV. According to a press release accessed by ANGOP, the interest was articulated during an audience with a delegation from the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Mass Media (MINTTICS), which had been in Nairobi for a four-day experience exchange with local professionals. According to Angola Press News Agency, services of interest are the intelligent solutions developed by the Geospatial Data Center (GEDAE), aimed at supporting key sectors of Kenya's national economy. The Angolan delegation's visit was part of the joint technical committee's framework in Telecommunications, Information Technologies, and Mass Media between Angola and Kenya. John Tanui, as quoted in the press release, highlighted Kenya's interest in leveraging Angola's expertise and consultancy to realiz e Kenya's first satellite in orbit, a collaborative project with Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda. Furthermore, he mentioned plans to mobilize Kenyan institutions in Telecommunications and IT to participate in the 7th Edition of ANGOTIC-2026, an International Forum on Information and Communication Technologies in Angola, scheduled for June 11 to 13 in Luanda. He assured that Kenya would be represented at the highest level in this sector. Matias Borges, the coordinator of the Angolan delegation and national director of Telecommunications and Information Technologies, regarded the visit as positive, noting a favorable impression of the Kenyan operations, particularly those of Safaricom, the Digital Health Agency, and the Data Protection Office. The delegation also visited an optic fiber factory, where there was expressed interest in business expansion and collaboration with Angolan companies. The Angolan delegation included Lumonansoni Eduardo André, coordinator of the National Space Education Program of the Nati onal Space Program Management Office (GGPEN), Bruno dos Santos, coordinator of the Department of Studies and Technological Evolution and Information of the Angolan Institute of Communications (INACOM), and Belsizario Abílio, senior technician of the Department of Market Regulation and Universal Service of INACOM.
