Kenya Launches Report on Impact of Cash Transfer Program for Persons with Severe Disabilities

NAIROBI – The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, in collaboration with the National Council for Persons with Disabilities, unveiled the Persons with Severe Disability Impact Assessment Report, providing an in-depth analysis of the cash transfer program’s benefits for its recipients. This initiative underscores the Kenyan government’s dedication to enhancing the lives of persons with severe disabilities.

According to Kenya News Agency, the report offers insights into the positive effects of the cash transfer program on individuals with severe disabilities. In a gesture that further highlights the government’s commitment, a cheque worth Sh1.2 million was presented to learners with disabilities during the report’s launch event.

The government, as revealed by CS Bore, dispenses Sh31 million every month to support 15,000 beneficiaries across Mandera County, aiming to provide them with the necessary assistance to live dignified lives. This allocation is part of a broader effort to ensure that persons with disabilities receive the support they need.

Mandera Governor Mohamed Khalif, who was present at the launch, reaffirmed the county’s commitment to creating an inclusive environment for persons with disabilities. He also announced an additional allocation of Sh55.5 million to aid orphans within the county, highlighting the local government’s dedication to supporting vulnerable populations.

Harun Hassan, CEO of the National Council for Persons with Disabilities, expressed his gratitude for the initiative, acknowledging the significant impact it has on alleviating the challenges faced by families with severely disabled members. This report and the financial support provided to learners with disabilities demonstrate a significant step forward in the government’s efforts to ensure inclusivity and support for all citizens.
