Kénédougou Province Hosts Government Delegation for Security and Social Cohesion Talks

Orodara – A high-level government delegation, led by the Minister of State and Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs, Brigadier General Kassoum Coulibaly, convened with key local figures in Kénédougou province on Saturday to discuss pressing issues of security, peace, and social cohesion.

According to the Burkina Information Agency, Saïdou Sakira, the meeting, held at the Orodara town hall, was an opportunity for provincial leaders to express gratitude towards the government for its continuous efforts to secure the territory. Despite these efforts, Sakira highlighted the ongoing security challenges in the region, emphasizing the need for further actions to bolster the achievements of the security forces.

The session saw a significant exchange between the local vital forces and the government representatives, which included Minister of the Environment Roger Baro, Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget Fatoumata Bako/Traoré, Secretary General of the Government Mathias Traoré, and the Governor of the Hauts-Bassins region, Mariama Konaté/Gnanou. The main objective, articulated by Minister Coulibaly, was to facilitate direct dialogue on national security concerns, a directive from the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré.

Discussions spanned several key issues including strategies to enhance local security measures, foster social cohesion, and address socio-economic challenges facing the province. Government officials responded to various concerns raised by the participants and underscored the importance of continuing solidarity and social cohesion among the province’s communities.

In addition to the main meeting, the delegation also engaged with local Defense and Security Forces (FDS), offering encouragement and support for their ongoing efforts to secure and stabilize the region.
