Kéné-Vacances Culture 2024 Kicks Off in Kénédougou with Cultural Competitions


ORODARA — The 18th edition of the cultural festival Kéné-Vacances Culture, organized by the Association Vision Culture et Développement (AVCD), began on Saturday, August 17, 2024, in Orodara, focusing on the role of youth in promoting peace and social cohesion.



According to Burkina Information Agency, which started in 2007, aims to engage schoolchildren and students during their cultural holidays through a series of competitions, including ballets, playbacks, and parades in traditional outfits. This year’s event, held under the theme “Responsibility of Young People in Promoting Peace and Social Cohesion,” saw participation from six artistic groups representing different sectors of Orodara.



The first elimination round was marked by lower-than-expected audience turnout. However, Yacouba Coulibaly, the artistic director of Kéné-Vacances Culture, known as ‘Vieux Père Choc,’ assured that the organizing committee would work to boost participation in the upcoming rounds. The grand finale of the festival is scheduled for September 21, 2024.
