Accra: Police officers from the ||Kharas Region were deployed in teams on Wednesday to carry out festive season operations aimed at ensuring that the communities are safe from criminal activity during this period. They were deployed by Deputy Commissioner Nicodemus Mbango, Head of the Crime Investigations Division for the ||Kharas Region, during a briefing held at the Keetmanshoop Police Station.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Mbango provided instructions on how the operations should be carried out. “We are going to do our patrols by foot, we are going to stop and search vehicles and make sure the drivers are screened. At night we look out on whoever looks suspicious and conduct body search, any knife found, or any dangerous weapon must be seized and the perpetrator must be arrested,” stated Mbango.
He further instructed the officers to survey every liquor outlet and mall for any other criminal activities. “We must list out and watch every liquor outlet; we must make sure they are operating within their specific hours. We must not allow people to drink on the street, own consumption must be own consumption so whoever is found drinking on the streets must be reprimanded,” added Mbango.
Mbango further emphasized teamwork and that the police officers must protect the community as a unit, to ensure that the public can enjoy their holidays without any criminal activities disturbing their peace.
