A 26-year-old man reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself with an electrical cord at Keetmanshoop in the |Kharas Region on Sunday morning. Namibian Police Force, acting crime investigations coordinator for ||Kharas, Chief Inspector, Theodore Kotungondo told Nampa on Sunday that the incident happened at the railway line small bridge in the Noordhoek residential area. 'It is alleged that the deceased was found hanging with an electrical cord around his neck fastened on a steel bar under the bridge and was certified dead on arrival at the Keetmanshoop State Hospital,' he said. He was identified as Jenver Meyer and his next of kin are aware of his death. Kotungondo said the deceased allegedly assaulted his girlfriend in a jealous fit with a brick on the head that left her with serious head injuries after he caught her in her room with another man. 'The deceased then fled the scene and went to inform his family that since he was treated as the' black sheep' in the family they would not see him agai n and vanished only to be found later hanging or having committed suicide,' he added. The 34-year-old girlfriend, a South African national was admitted to the Keetmanshoop State Hospital for treatment and further transferred to Windhoek State Hospital for intensive treatment. The victim is a University of Namibia Southern Campus student in Keetmanshoop, hailing from Koebus, in the Northern Cape. Source: Namibia Press Agency
