MUHORONI: The Muhoroni National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) has allocated Sh.7 million in bursaries to support 29 secondary schools, aiding candidates preparing for this year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations. This financial support aims to clear fee arrears for Form Four candidates in both boarding and day schools, ensuring they can sit their exams without any financial hindrances.
According to Kenya News Agency, Sospeter Ngere, the manager of Muhoroni Constituency NG-CDF, distributed the bursary cheques on behalf of area Member of Parliament James Onyango Koyoo at Nyangoma chief’s camp on Friday. Ngere confirmed that all applications from vulnerable candidates facing financial challenges in sub-county, county, and extra-county schools were processed and allocated funds accordingly.
Mr. Benard Del, chairperson of Muhoroni NG-CDF, highlighted during the event that the committee prioritized assisting these candidates to ensure they can undertake their examin
ations without financial stress. “We have directed the school principals to allocate the funds from accounts of students with nil fee balances to those of their needy counterparts,” Del stated, emphasizing a fair distribution of resources.
Del further assured that the NG-CDF committee envisions a smooth examination period for this year’s KCSE candidates, free from any disruptions due to unpaid fees. He also mentioned that other secondary students would be considered for bursary allocations before the start of the school terms in January 2025.
Earlier this year, in July, Hon. Koyoo allocated approximately Sh.16 million to college and university students pursuing special courses such as Architecture, Medicine, Engineering, and Law, covering their full year fees. Concurrently, Ngere announced plans to establish the Muhoroni Technical Training Institute, which will provide technical courses to local youths and those from neighboring regions. The institute aims to reduce the need for students to travel to other
counties for similar educational opportunities. Ngere assured that the first cohort would be fully sponsored under the Muhoroni NG-CDF initiative.
