United by a common mission, that of saving and protecting lives, actors in humanitarian action in the Center-North commemorated, delayed, on August 24, 2023 in Kaya, World Humanitarian Aid Day.
The event, which was held on the site of internally displaced persons called the “government site”, made it possible, according to the organizers, to raise awareness among the public and communities in need on the principles which govern humanitarian actions and why they do so. hold.
Several activities including awareness sessions, an exhibition of actors, and a blood donation marked this commemorative day.
“This day is very important for all humanitarian actors in the sense that it commemorates their sacrifices made for the benefit of the populations. » confided Boukaré Bamogo of the action vision development association (AVAD), one of the organizers.
The governor, president of the special regional delegation of the Center-North in his launching speech paid tribute to “all these women and all these men who choose to go beyond their challenges to access people in the need in order to provide them with relief and assistance. » Colonel-Major Zoewendmanego Blaise Ouédraogo, reiterating his availability to support humanitarian actors in carrying out their work within his jurisdiction, invited them to take into account the real needs of the assisted populations while persevering in transparency and accountability.
According to the National Emergency Relief Council (CONASUR), the Center-North region totaled, as of March 31, 2023, 488,000 internally displaced people, or 23.9% of the national workforce.
World Humanitarian Day is officially celebrated every August 19 of the year to pay tribute to the women and men who face dangers and adversity to help populations in distress.
