Kaya Regional Center Distributes Essential Supplies to 200 Vulnerable University Students

Kaya: The Kaya Regional Center for University Works (CROU) distributed essential food and non-food items to 200 vulnerable students at the Kaya University Center on May 16, 2025.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the effort was part of a humanitarian assistance initiative aimed at supporting students facing difficult circumstances.



The assistance benefited 120 female students, each receiving a kit with 25 kg of rice, 5 liters of oil, 5 cans of food, and 3 balls of soap. Meanwhile, 80 male students received 25 bags of pasta, 5 cans of food, and 5 liters of oil each. The intervention was a collaboration between the Kaya CROU and the National Council for Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation (CONASUR), facilitated by the organization’s president, the Minister of Humanitarian Action.



Amadou Modibo Ciss©, regional director of the Kaya CROU, emphasized that the support aims to help students continue their university studies. Adama Sawadogo, representing the Regional Director of Higher Education and Research for the Centre-North region, praised the initiative.



The selection process focused on first-year students across all majors affected by the ongoing security and humanitarian crisis. Yacouba Simpor©, head of the library at the Kaya University Center, highlighted that these students are particularly vulnerable and at risk of dropping out due to their precarious situations.



The students expressed their gratitude for the timely assistance and assured that the supplies would be utilized effectively.
