KAYA — In a significant community-driven initiative, the youth of Sanmatenga organized a blood drive at the Kaya Regional Blood Transfusion Center, successfully collecting 267 bags of blood to support patients during a critical period marked by high malaria incidence. The event, which drew numerous volunteers, highlighted the community’s proactive approach to healthcare and emergency preparedness.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the blood collection effort was particularly timely, providing essential support for individuals injured in the recent Barsalogo attack, who are currently receiving treatment at the regional health hospital in Kaya. This effort underscores the vital role of community mobilization in addressing urgent health needs.

The blood drive not only aids in treating the victims of the attack but also bolsters the hospital’s resources during a peak season for malaria, a period when the demand for blood significantly increases. The initiative reflects the community’s commitment to sustaining critical healthcare services and supporting those in urgent need.
