Kavango west: Kavango West Governor Verna Sinimbo led a firm send-off for the region's sports contingent, urging discipline, teamwork, and pride ahead of the Netbank Namibia Newspaper Cup slated for the long Easter weekend in Keetmanshoop in the ||Kharas Region. She called the athletes 'ambassadors of the region' who must 'travel safe, compete with courage and return with pride.'

According to Namibia Press Agency, Sinimbo emphasised discipline and focus, warning against misconduct and distractions. 'Refrain from alcohol, go and focus, be disciplined at all times,' adding, 'In Kavango West we don't talk about defeat, we only talk about winning.' Kavango West Regional Council CRO, Matheus Singambwe reiterated the region's structured approach to sport, noting that planning and coordination remain central to performance and accountability.

He highlighted formal collaboration between administrators and codes to ensure logistics, welfare, and competition readiness are aligned with regional priorities. 'Our responsibility is to enable athletes and technical teams to perform without off-field obstacles,' he said, underscoring that transparent processes will guide selections, travel, and compliance.

Director of Education in the region, Pontianus Musore, addressing team motivation and passion, pressed the athletes to connect effort with identity and purpose. 'Passion without discipline is noise; discipline with passion is performance,' he said, urging players to transform training habits into match-day standards. He called on captains and senior players to 'model calm under pressure' and to keep the group 'aligned to team goals, not individual moments.'

Governor Sinimbo tied the send-off to ongoing infrastructure efforts, pointing to new basic sport facilities in constituencies and the region's push to professionalise sport. 'We are investing in sports, not just for recreation, but as a pathway for livelihoods, discipline, and long-term development,' she said, framing the team as a 'direct product of this vision.'

The Kavango West delegation comprises 15 members of the technical team, 15 netball players, and 20 football players. As the teams depart, officials insist that performance must reflect preparation, structure from administration, purpose from education, and pride from leadership.
