Nankudu: The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Kavango West Region intercepted a consignment of cannabis during a stop-and-search operation at Nankudu village on Friday, apprehending two Angolan nationals in the process.
According to Namibia Press Agency, NamPol's Kavango West Regional Commander, Commissioner Julia Sakuwa-Neo, stated that the two Angolan nationals, a 36-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman, were allegedly found in possession of cannabis weighing 11.94 kilogrammes at around 17h00. The illicit goods have an estimated street value of N.dollars 597 000.
The pair was arrested at the scene. In a separate incident later that night, a 47-year-old Namibian man was also allegedly found in possession of a cannabis plant at Karanawa location in Nkurenkuru at approximately 23h00. He was also arrested.
Sakuwa-Neo confirmed the arrests and mentioned that the suspects are expected to appear in court on Monday. 'These arrests reflect our continued efforts to disrupt the illegal drug trade in the Kavango West Region. We urge communities to work with the police by reporting suspicious activities to help keep our neighborhoods safe,' he said.
Police investigations into the matters continue.
