Katima Mulilo District Court Postpones Cases of Attempted Rape and Assault to 2025

Katima Mulilo: The Katima Mulilo District Court on Monday postponed the attempted rape case of 27-year-old Calvin Baili Baili to 16 July for further police investigations and to allow him to obtain legal representation or apply for bail. Baili is alleged to have attempted to have sexual intercourse with a 12-year-old girl at a house in Ibeza village in the Ngoma area last Friday. He was remanded in custody.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the district court also postponed the case of assault with grievous bodily harm (GBH) and housebreaking with intent to steal involving 28-year-old Joseph Mubuyaeta to 20 June 2025 for trial. Mubuyaeta allegedly broke into a complainant's house in the Dairy Compound on Saturday night. The complainant confronted Mubuyaeta as he was leaving the house, during which the complainant was stabbed in the head with an unidentified object.

Magistrate Beatrice Sibalatani presided over Monday's court proceedings, with prosecutor Sylvious Malange representing the State.
