Windhoek: The Electoral Commission of Namibia has officially released the final results of the 2025 Regional Council Election for the Kapako and Mpungu Constituencies in the Kavango West Region. The announcement was made on Friday, marking a significant event in the region's political landscape.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the results for the Kapako Constituency indicate a clear lead for Kupembona Augustinus Linyando of the Swapo party, who secured 2,476 votes. The independent candidates Kamina Frans and Hausiku Alfred Morosi garnered 1,489 and 1,289 votes, respectively. Hamutenya Theresia Namutenya of the IPC received 176 votes, with 50 ballots rejected.
In the Mpungu Constituency, the Swapo candidate Shiudifonya Titus Kandjimi emerged as the frontrunner with 2,717 votes. The independent candidate Simpire Bartlet David followed with 881 votes, while Kambinda Kleopas Sikongo, also an independent candidate, received 433 votes. Sirunga Gidion Haironga of the IPC and Nakare Michael of the Namibia Progressive Party received 111 and 25 votes, respectively. There were 37 rejected ballots in this constituency.
