Kank©l© FC Triumphs in Sanfo Social Cohesion Maracana Tournament Final

Bal©: The field of the Sanfo public primary school, located approximately 18 km from Ouri, came alive on May 1, 2026, with the grand finale of the inaugural "Gnon Kanou" or social cohesion maracana tournament. This event, aimed at fostering community spirit and unity, culminated in an emphatic victory for Kank©l© FC over Gnon D©m¨ FC, with a commanding 3-0 scoreline.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the tournament was organized by the educational stakeholders of the Sanfo school. Sponsored by Karim Ciss©, a native of the village, this first edition gathered the local community, including the educational sector of Ouri's basic education district (CEB), promoting a message of peace and understanding. The tournament featured eight teams, divided into two groups of four, engaging in a series of matches that led to the final showdown between Kank©l© FC and Gnon D©m¨ FC.

The thrilling final, marked by fair play, saw Kank©l© FC, donned in blue, outperform their opponents, Gnon D©m¨ FC, dressed in green. The outcome was a culmination of 90 minutes of spirited play, leading to Kank©l© FC's victory as champions of this maiden sporting event, much to the delight of the enthusiastic spectators.

In his remarks, Siaka Fofona, the Chief of Sanfo village, expressed his heartfelt prayers for the continuation of this competition for community benefit. He extended his gratitude to the organizers for their commendable efforts in bringing the event to fruition.

Romaric R. Tiendrebeogo, the school director, hailed the event as a successful venture and thanked the entire village, the sponsor, and his team for their dedication. He acknowledged the patron's contribution, stating, "I pay a heartfelt tribute to the patron for honoring this event and to my colleagues who worked tirelessly against all odds to ensure the success of this first edition."

Karim Ciss©, the tournament's sponsor, shared his satisfaction in associating with the event, emphasizing its role in strengthening fraternity and peace within the community. He also expressed gratitude to the VDP for their efforts in ensuring village security and urged the finalists to maintain the spirit of fair play.

Doubanou Marcel Kassa, CCEB of Ouri, who attended the final, commended his staff for their success in organizing the event. He encouraged teachers to exceed their official duties and called on colleagues to emulate Sanfo's example.

The final was complemented by morning cultural activities, where the local population and students participated in traditional dafing dance performances, enjoyed local cuisine, and shared indigenous knowledge, all in an atmosphere of celebration, unity, and fraternity.
