Kampti Delegation Enhances Land Governance and Social Cohesion through Accountability Sessions

Kampti: The special delegation is focusing on local accountability to strengthen land governance and social cohesion. The Kampti Municipality concluded a series of accountability sessions held in several areas of the municipality on Saturday, May 30, 2026. This community-based approach allowed municipal authorities to present a report on their management, discuss local development challenges with residents, and gather their concerns, particularly regarding land governance and social cohesion.

According to Burkina Information Agency, from May 25 to 30, 2026, the teams of the special delegation travelled through the villages of Irinao, Galgouli, Guirina, Gbalara and Kampti-centre as part of the communal accountability days. These meetings were organised with the support of the Episcopal Commission for Justice and Peace of Burkina Faso (CJP-Burkina) through the project "Contribution of CSOs and the media to citizen monitoring of land policies in Burkina Faso" (SCPF), implemented within the framework of the FASOVEIL programme.

This project aims to strengthen the influence of CSOs and the media in the development and implementation of public policies, particularly, with regard to the CJP-Burkina, on land issues and the prevention of community conflicts. Throughout the various stages, the municipal authorities presented to the residents the actions undertaken, the resources mobilized, and the municipality's development prospects. Discussions also focused on land management, transparency in public action, citizen oversight, and community cohesion.

The Prefect, President of the Special Delegation of Kampti, Mr. Massahiba Aim© SOULAMA, welcomed the smooth running of all the sessions and the commitment of the people to support local development initiatives. "These dialogue frameworks allow us to report on our management, but also to listen to the real concerns of the people in order to improve our governance. The strong mobilization observed in the various localities reflects the citizens' interest in the management of public affairs. Regarding land, we must all work towards responsible, transparent management that respects the law in order to prevent conflicts and preserve social cohesion," he said.

Mr. SOULAMA also welcomed the support of the Burkina Faso Episcopal Commission for Justice and Peace, whose actions contribute to strengthening dialogue between local authorities and citizens. For his part, the representative of the Episcopal Commission for Justice and Peace of Burkina Faso, Mr. Jean Baptiste YANOGO, expressed his satisfaction with the participatory format adopted by the municipality and with the mobilization recorded in the different localities visited. "We have observed active participation from the population and a genuine willingness for dialogue between citizens and local authorities. This approach promotes transparency and trust."

"Through our citizen monitoring units, we are working to strengthen social cohesion and promote better land governance. Land is now a major issue for social peace; its management must be based on dialogue, fairness and respect for established rules," said Mr. YANOGO. Through these accountability days, the Kampti Commune reaffirms its commitment to promoting more inclusive local governance, based on transparency, citizen participation, and the prevention of land-related conflicts.
