Kamburona Takes Charge of Rural Sport Federation

Windhoek: Japandera Procollo Kamburona was elected as the president of the Namibia Rural Sport Development Federation (NRSDF) at the elective congress held on Saturday in Windhoek. NRSDF was established in 2000 with the primary objective of promoting and developing various sporting codes in rural areas across Namibia. According to Namibia Press Agency, prior to his selection, Kamburona served NRSDF as interim president for one year. Speaking to Nampa after his election victory, Kamburona expressed his gratitude for being chosen as the federation head and promised to work with all stakeholders to develop rural sport. He conveyed his determination to improve the organization for the benefit of all NRSDF members. As a former president of the Epukiro Sport Council and Otjimanangombe FC player and manager, Kamburona pledged to elevate the federation's operations and enhance its impact in rural regions. He highlighted the challenges related to player movements between teams and expressed his commitment to address ing these issues with the support of the federation members. Kamburona identified the lack of sport facilities and sponsorship in rural areas as significant challenges facing NRSDF. He emphasized the federation's role in sport development in the country, noting its contribution to top league clubs. The absence of sports fields and sponsorship hampers the federation's ability to achieve its goals. Metaa Kazeurua will serve as vice president alongside Kamburona, while Collec Ngatuuane Hange of Epukiro has taken on the role of secretary general, with Tjivikara Kamenje from Otjinene assisting as vice secretary general. The financial affairs of the NRSDF will be managed by Tico Kazakoka and Tjisemo Kataura as treasurer and vice treasurer, respectively. Esau Tjihange from Epupa will be the federation's public relations officer, with Jorokee Veseevete, Lovers Mengo, Kaiko Kandjou, Kapuhire Ngombe, and Ngero Tjiramba joining the executive as additional members to support various functions. The newly elected leader ship will serve a three-year term, focusing on organizing tournaments and events aimed at discovering, nurturing, and showcasing talented athletes from rural communities across the country.
