Saaba: A coalition of three associations in Kalsin has formally requested additional time from SONATUR before the subdivision of the area proceeds. The coalition, consisting of Sougr-Nooma, Taabyinga BStisseurs, and Habitants de Nioko 1, acknowledges SONATUR’s legal rights to develop the land but seeks more time to ensure a smooth transition.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Moumouni Korgo, secretary general of the Sougr-Nooma association, stated that a meeting on March 26, 2025, with SONATUR’s Director General, the President of the Special Delegation of Saaba, and other stakeholders, confirmed that all 3,404 residents identified in a 2018 census will receive a plot with a certificate of allocation from the town hall.

Korgo highlighted that SONATUR has areas ready for the final allocation of plots. However, he requested SONATUR to allow a reasonable period for residents to develop these plots before vacating the current site. The request for an extension was made during a general meeting on May 4, 2025, aimed at updating the community on SONATUR’s plans and addressing concerns.

Korgo reiterated the legitimacy of SONATUR as a state entity, urging residents to respect its legal documents and actions. He also called for unity among the community members to prevent division and ensure progress.

“We must remain vigilant and united to take charge of our future,” Korgo emphasized.
