Kalifara Séré Concedes to Excess in Comments on BF1’s ‘7 Infos’ Following CSC Review

OUAGADOUGOU — Kalifara Séré, a retired civil administrator, admitted to the Superior Council of Communication (CSC) that his remarks on the television program ‘7 Infos’ were excessive. These comments, which he made during the June 16 broadcast on BF1, were found to be untrue.

According to Burkina Information Agency, which was made public and shared on their Facebook page, “Mr. Séré Kalifara recognized that he was excessive in his comments during the broadcast but that his intention was not to cause harm.” The issue arose from Séré’s allegations during the live program, where he questioned the authenticity of images showing President Ibrahim Traoré donating blood on World Blood Donor Day, even calling them edited.

During the broadcast, Séré controversially claimed, “It is the State itself which fabricates information which is false,” referring to the footage of Captain Traoré’s blood donation. In response, Dr. Désiré Nézien, director of the Blood Transfusion Center, appeared on the same channel to confirm that the images were authentic and were not from the previous year.

As a consequence of these events, the CSC has suspended the ‘7 Infos’ program for two weeks. Additionally, BF1 television was instructed to immediately remove the disputed parts of the show from all its broadcasting platforms.
