Kadiogo Sanitation Initiative Launched to Clean Up Koubri Checkpoint

Kadiogo: The special delegation of Koubri launched a sanitation initiative aimed at cleaning the checkpoint located at the southern exit of the town. This effort is part of a communal sanitation week that saw participation from various community stakeholders.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony was attended by customary and religious authorities, women's municipal coordination, citizen monitoring associations, the association of people with disabilities, as well as workers from both public and private sectors, and schoolchildren. Madina Ou©draogo, the head physician of the Koubri medical center and president of the organizing committee, expressed satisfaction with the strong turnout, highlighting the importance of a clean environment for good health.

Mamadou Sanfo, president of the National Organization of Traders of Burkina (ONACOMB), pledged support for the initiative, emphasizing the role his organization will play in facilitating behavioral change. Samad© L©onard Gougou, president of the special delegation of Koubri, praised the strong mobilization and expressed gratitude to partners for their support, which included a provision of cleaning equipment.

Sanctions were also announced for those found guilty of littering, with fines set at 5,000 CFA francs. Fid¨le Yam©ogo, representing the Minister of the Environment, highlighted the civic responsibility of maintaining sanitation, citing that 30% of medical consultations in Koubri are linked to unsanitary conditions. The initiative aims to instill a sense of patriotism and is encouraged to be replicated across Burkina Faso.
