Ouagadougou: The best students of the 2024-2025 school year at the Prytan©e militaire de Kadiogo (PMK) were celebrated on Friday in an awards ceremony that highlighted their academic achievements. The recognition event saw students from the 6th to the final year being rewarded for their outstanding performance.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony took place on May 30, 2025, where students received various prizes. These included school kits, computers, certificates, and for some, motorcycles, bicycles, and mopeds. Among the top honorees were Giovanni Oubda from the 6th grade, achieving a remarkable score of 18.18/20, and Abdoul-Hafiz Sawadogo from Terminale A, who scored 17.45/20. Giovanni Oubda was awarded a savings account credited with 150,000 CFA francs and a computer, while Abdoul-Hafiz Sawadogo received a savings account with 50,000 CFA francs, a tablet, and a motorcycle.
The commander of the Kadiogo Military Academy, Lieutenant Colonel Oupouhounla Ouali, commended the students for achieving a 98.33% admission rate to the next academic year. He attributed this success to the dedication and hard work of both the students and the teaching staff. “I would like to pay you a well-deserved tribute for your consistent academic performance. Your sustained efforts have earned us, as they do every year, commendable results,” he expressed to the teachers.
Lieutenant Colonel Oupouhounla Ouali also encouraged students to continue the legacy of their predecessors and urged the final year students to uphold the values of competence, civic-mindedness, and moral integrity as they transition to new phases in their lives.
For the 2024-2025 academic year, the academy has enrolled 561 students, comprising 167 girls and 394 boys. The student body includes 445 Burkinabe students and 116 students from other countries such as Benin, the Central African Republic, Gabon, Guinea-Conakry, Mali, Niger, Senegal, Chad, Togo, Cameroon, and Congo-Brazzaville.
The award ceremony was presided over by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Brigadier General Moussa Diallo.
