KA WA YOO Association Enhances Living Conditions for IDPs and Boosts Reforestation Efforts in Toma

Nayala – The KA WA YOO Association significantly contributed to environmental and humanitarian efforts in Toma on August 13, 2024, by providing improved housing to 25 internally displaced persons (IDPs) and planting 100 trees as a part of ongoing reforestation initiatives.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Raoul Baba Toé, the projects align with national environmental goals set by President Captain Ibrahim Traoré to combat deforestation. The activities included the distribution of 25 improved shelters specifically designed to reduce firewood use, addressing a critical issue in Toma as highlighted by the second vice-president of the municipality’s special delegation, Donatien Paré.

Honoré Frédéric Paré, the High Commissioner of the province, endorsed the association’s efforts. He praised the initiative and encouraged the hundred women who received trees to diligently maintain them, ensuring the success of the reforestation efforts. The project also received technical support from the provincial environmental management of Nayala, enhancing its effectiveness and sustainability.
