Jumia Halts Food Delivery Service in Seven African Countries

Jumia, a leading e-commerce platform in Africa, has announced the discontinuation of its food delivery service, Jumia Food, in seven countries, including Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, and Ivory Coast. This move is part of a larger strategy to concentrate on its primary e-commerce and JumiaPay operations across its various markets.

According to Africa News Agency, scheduled to cease by the end of December 2023, the closure of Jumia Food was decided following a thorough strategic review. This assessment indicated that Jumia Food’s operations were not in line with the prevailing operating environment and current macroeconomic conditions.
