D€š¬…¡¬°DOUGOU: The Bishop of the Diocese of D©dougou, Mgr Prosper Bonaventure Ky, led the solemn opening of the Eucharistic celebration marking the Jubilee Year 2025 at the Sainte Anne Cathedral in D©dougou. This event, held on December 29, 2024, coincides with the feast of the Holy Family of Nazareth and emphasizes a period of spiritual renewal under the theme “Pilgrims of Hope.”

According to Burkina Information Agency, the celebration began with a grand procession to the cathedral, featuring the opening of the holy doors and the sprinkling of holy water on the faithful. A significant aspect of the ceremony was the pilgrimage, symbolizing a walk in faith led by the diocesan family following the Holy Cross into the Cathedral. Here, Bishop Ky reiterated his role in teaching and guiding the Christian community, focusing on spiritual and doctrinal growth.

During his meditation, Bishop Ky highlighted the family as the primary school of faith, where love is first experienced. He referenced the Holy Family of Nazareth-Jesus, Mary, and Joseph-as a model of faith, unity, and trust in God. He encouraged the faithful to emulate their example by living in mutual love and becoming living witnesses of Christian hope within their families and communities.

Bishop Ky also emphasized the responsibility of parents as guardians of their children’s lives, urging them to nurture their growth and maturity. He linked the opening of the Jubilee Year with the celebration of Christ’s nativity, underscoring Christ as the connection between the holy door and the broader themes of grace and mercy.

In his address, Bishop Ky expressed gratitude for the 25th anniversary of the diocese’s creation and the upcoming centenary of the cathedral parish in 2029. He urged the faithful to embrace the Jubilee Year, highlighting the graces available to those committed to rekindling hope amidst times of conflict and unrest.
