KITENGELA: Kajiado East Constituency Member of Parliament Kakuta Ole Maimai has officially inaugurated a classroom at Noonkopir Primary School for Junior Secondary School learners. This initiative is part of the Kajiado East National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) for the 2023/2024 financial year.
According to Kenya News Agency, Ole Maimai announced that the construction of four additional junior secondary school classes is underway at the school, with completion anticipated by January to accommodate Grade 9 learners. He praised the school’s Board of Management and leadership for their effective oversight of the project, which ensured adherence to high-quality standards. Furthermore, the MP pledged to enhance school safety by constructing a perimeter fence in the coming financial year.
In addition to the developments at Noonkopir Primary School, Ole Maimai disclosed that the G.K. Prison would benefit from six junior secondary schools to support the rising population in Kitengela town. Eve
rlyn Kaise, Chairperson of the Noonkopir Primary School Board of Management, expressed gratitude to the MP, emphasizing that the new classroom would provide a conducive learning environment for students.
The Kenyan government is actively engaged in building 16,000 junior secondary school classrooms nationwide to facilitate a seamless transition to Grade 9 next year. The Ministry of Education has already allocated Sh11 billion for the construction of 11,000 classrooms, and in September, the National Treasury released Sh7.8 billion to the NG-CDF to contribute to the development of an additional 5,000 classrooms.
