Cairo: Journalists drawn from anglophone countries have been urged to remain versatile and relay news using the available cross-social media platforms in the wake of content generated using AI. Addressing journalists during the 12th specialized training course for Anglophone broadcasters in Cairo, Egypt, Mohammed Abdulrahman, founder of E3Iam.com, emphasized the importance of adapting to new media forms. He noted that with the rise of AI, it is essential for journalists to integrate multimedia channels to deliver news effectively.
According to Kenya News Agency, Abdulrahman highlighted the transition from traditional media to new media, stressing the necessity for journalists to combine print, photographs, and video into a cohesive narrative to capture and maintain audience interest. He advised journalists to produce concise and direct content, considering the limited time audiences have to consume lengthy articles.
The digital content expert also underscored the importance of creating content that remains
valuable over time, suggesting that journalists should aim for longevity in their work. Dr. Heba El Shahed, a lecturer in Media Studies at the American University in Cairo, added that content should be value-driven, engaging, and relevant. She advised journalists to identify their unique selling points and understand their audience demographics to effectively attract, engage, and retain them.
Dr. El Shahed emphasized that core content should aim to educate, inspire, inform, and entertain while also connecting with audiences on an emotional level. The two-week specialized training is organized by the Supreme Council for Media Regulations-Egypt, targeting journalists from Kenya, Tanzania, Eritrea, Ghana, and Nigeria.
