Journalists Celebrate Excellence at 27th Galian Prize Ceremony in Ouagadougou

OUAGADOUGOU — The 27th edition of the Galian prize competition concluded on Friday evening in Ouagadougou, awarding 21 prizes to journalists and technicians across various media categories, including national languages, online press, and audiovisual press.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the competition recognized the exemplary work of media professionals in several categories. In the national languages segment, Aïcha Kabré from Arc-en-ciel radio won for the best sound broadcasting magazine, while Abdoulaye Sawadogo from rural radio took home the prize for best major report. Boukaré Ouedraogo of Savane FM was named best radio presenter, and Issaka Ilboudo from Radio Kadre Kibaré won in the reporting genre.

Online press accolades were awarded to Samira Bationon of leFaso.net and Tinga Paul Soma of Faso 7 for their exceptional work in reporting and portrait genres, respectively. The written press category highlighted Ibrahim Tinga from L'Évènement for his investigative report, with Hugues Sama of L'Observateur Paalga and Pamoussa Félix Kaboré also receiving awards for their contributions in major reporting and headline creation, respectively.

Rémi Zoeringré from Éditions Sidwaya received recognition in the category of creation and advertising for his press photography. In the French language category, awards were distributed among six journalists, including Hervé Kaboré and Rasmata Ouédraogo from Radiodiffusion du Burkina, with accolades also going to Charles Tiendrébéogo, Mathieu Somda, Arouna Daïla, and Romain Bouda for their skills in various broadcasting techniques.

The audiovisual segment saw Liradan Philippe Ada winning for his major television report, with additional prizes going to Fabrice Gérald Zongo for his documentary work. The best TV presenter award was given to Hervé Dapa from BF1 television, and technical awards for editing and sound recording were bestowed upon Frédéric Ouaba and Honoré Soulama, respectively.

The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Ousmane Bougouma, President of the Legislative Assembly of the transition, and other government officials. They commended the journalists for their resilience amid the ongoing security crisis and encouraged all participants to strive for greater professionalism in their future endeavors.
