Jordanians Released After Two-Week Captivity in Syria


Amman – Two Jordanian nationals, previously kidnapped in Syria, have been safely returned to Jordan after enduring more than two weeks of captivity, the Jordanian Foreign Ministry announced on Saturday.



According to Namibia Press Agency, the successful release and repatriation of the kidnapped individuals were coordinated by Syrian authorities. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Sufian Qudah expressed appreciation for Syria’s role in resolving the situation and ensuring the safe return of the Jordanians through official diplomatic channels. Qudah highlighted the continuous efforts made by the ministry’s Directorate of Operations and Consular Affairs, along with the Jordanian Embassy in Damascus, in securing the release.



The ministry refrained from disclosing specifics regarding the identities of the individuals or the circumstances surrounding their kidnapping. The incident occurs amid a backdrop of gradually improving relations between Jordan and Syria following years of tension fueled by the Syrian civil war.
