Johannesburg, South Africa – The Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) has been named the best performing stock market in real USD terms, according to the Credit Suisse Global Investment Returns Yearbook 2023. The report, assessing stock market returns since 1990, indicates that the JSE achieved an annualized real return of 7.0%, outperforming its global counterparts.
According to Africa News Agency, Financial Afrik reports that South Africa's success can be attributed to the mining sector's appeal in the last century. Currently, the technology sector, which represents 22% of the global index of developed and emerging countries (MSCI ACWI), is driving growth in global stock markets.
