Jean-Baptiste Koumbem Aims to Consolidate Gains in Sports, Youth, and Employment in Gourma

Gourma: Jean-Baptiste Koumbem was officially installed as the new Regional Director of Sports, Employment, and Youth in the Goulmou region by Secretary General Siaka Ouattara. The ceremony took place in Fada N'Gourma amidst the merger of ministerial departments for sports and youth, with a focus on consolidating achievements in these sectors.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the handover ceremony included administrative authorities, heads of decentralized services, technical partners, and staff from relevant organizations. Boubakar Ouedraogo, staff representative for the Goulmou Regional Directorate of Employment and Youth, praised outgoing director Moussa Tassembedo for his contributions to performance and efficiency.

Mr. Ouedraogo highlighted initiatives under Tassembedo's leadership, including a project for food and nutrition security that benefited 120 young and vulnerable people with support from the World Food Programme. He also mentioned the "Hope" project, supported by partners like Tin-Tua, for youth in the provinces of Gourma, Komondjari, and Kompienga.

Moussa Tassembedo expressed gratitude to authorities and colleagues for their support and emphasized that the results achieved were due to collective effort, acknowledging the role of youth organizations and vocational training providers. He noted the reform merging sports and employment departments as a new stage in public administration.

Jean-Baptiste Koumbem thanked God and national authorities for their trust and committed to fulfilling the missions assigned to the regional directorate. He emphasized working with colleagues and society to consolidate achievements in sports, recreation, youth, and employment.

Koumbem urged collaboration among the directorate's staff and partners to make sports, youth, and employment drivers of development and social cohesion in the Eastern region.
