ADDIS ABABA — Ethiopia is set to receive an investment boost from Japanese companies, signaling growing international confidence in its market. In discussions with the Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC), representatives from leading Japanese corporations, including Panasonic, Toyota, and Dodai Motors, expressed their plans to double down on their investments in the country.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, Deputy Commissioner of the EIC, Dagato Kumbe, welcomed the interest from the Japanese delegation, pledging full support from the commission. The Japanese firms’ investment interest spans a diverse range of sectors such as electronics, insurance, electric mobility, and automation systems, reflecting Ethiopia’s appeal as a dynamic and versatile investment destination. This move is anticipated to foster deeper economic ties between Ethiopia and Japan, contributing to Ethiopia’s ongoing efforts to diversify its economy and attract foreign direct investment.
