Moscow: Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni expressed her deep sorrow following the announcement of Pope Francis’ death on Monday. She described the Pope as a great man and shepherd who is leaving this world, reflecting on the significant loss felt by many.



According to Namibia Press Agency, the Holy See announced that Pope Francis passed away on Easter Monday at the age of 88. The Pope died at his residence in the Vatican’s Casa Santa Marta. Cardinal Kevin Joseph Farrell, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Laity, the Family and Life, reported that the Pope died at 5:35 GMT.



Prime Minister Meloni took to X to share her sentiments, stating, “This news deeply saddens us because we are losing a great man and a great shepherd. I had the privilege of being his friend, receiving his advice and guidance, which never faded even in times of trial and suffering.”
