Israeli Airstrikes Target Hezbollah in Southern Lebanon, Over 50 Militants Killed

CAIRO — In a significant escalation in southern Lebanon, Israel's military conducted airstrikes on Monday that targeted Hezbollah command centers, resulting in the deaths of more than 50 militants, including key commanders.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Daniel Hagari, spokesman for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), detailed in a televised briefing that the operation focused on dozens of underground facilities utilized by Hezbollah's Southern Front. "The airstrikes hit and destroyed underground command centers where commanders leading the fight against Israel were located," Hagari stated. Among the deceased were six senior commanders from Hezbollah's Southern Front and the Radwan Forces, notably including Ali Ahmad Ismail, the artillery commander for the Bint Jbeil area, and Ahmad Hassan Nazal, head of the attack sector in Bint Jbeil for the Radwan Forces, Hezbollah's elite commando unit.

Hagari emphasized that the Southern Front had developed an extensive network of underground infrastructure and command centers in southern Lebanon, strategically positioned to engage IDF soldiers in ground combat and to launch attacks into northern Israel.

The IDF confirmed striking over 125 sites in southern Lebanon in the past 24 hours alone. Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Hezbollah responded by launching over 170 rockets across the border into Israel. The ongoing conflict has led to significant casualties, with Lebanese authorities reporting over 2,100 fatalities and more than 10,000 injuries since the onset of the Israeli attacks.
