Israeli Airstrikes Result in 21 Palestinian Deaths in Gaza

Gaza City, Gaza—A series of Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip on Saturday resulted in the deaths of at least 21 Palestinians, according to Palestinian security and medical sources. These attacks included a missile strike on a residential building and shelling near a school and a displacement camp.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Palestinian security sources reported that an Israeli warplane targeted a house in the al-Tuffah neighborhood east of Gaza City, resulting in the deaths of ten individuals, including three children and a woman. Additionally, the Palestinian Civil Defense stated that an airstrike near a school in northwest Gaza City killed at least five people.

Local sources and eyewitnesses also reported that six more were killed in an Israeli shelling of a tent housing displaced persons in the al-Mawasi area, west of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip. The Israeli army has yet to make a statement regarding these incidents.

These strikes are part of a broader offensive launched by Israel against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, initiated after a significant breach of the southern Israeli border by Hamas on October 7, 2023, which resulted in approximately 1,200 deaths and 250 hostages. As of the latest updates, the total Palestinian death toll from the ongoing conflict has risen to 41,182, according to statements from Gaza-based health authorities.

Further exacerbating tensions, Gaza health officials announced the death of Palestinian paramedic Hamdan Abu Anaba, who died in an Israeli prison after being arrested in December 2023. He was apprehended at the Netzarim checkpoint in the central Gaza Strip, having previously worked at the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis.
