Israel Aims to Elevate Bilateral Relations with Angola

Luanda: The newly appointed ambassador of the State of Israel to Angola, Leo Vinovezky, has expressed a strong intention to enhance the bilateral relations between Israel and Angola. The ambassador emphasized the ‘unique opportunities’ available for strengthening cooperation in significant areas such as agriculture, health, space, and vocational training.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Vinovezky made these remarks to the media shortly after presenting his credentials to the President of Angola, Joo Louren§o, in a ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Luanda. He described the day as exciting and a tremendous honor, highlighting his commitment to elevating the relations between the two nations. Vinovezky began his address with the Hebrew word “shalom,” symbolizing peace, which he noted is the daily greeting of the Israeli people.

The ambassador’s mission coincides with the 30th anniversary of the Israeli Embassy in Luanda and the celebration of 50 years of Angolan independence. These milestones, according to Vinovezky, present a ‘unique opportunity’ for increased collaboration. He pointed out that one of the critical areas for cooperation is the training of Angolan personnel in Israel, particularly in the medical and agricultural sectors, facilitated by the Israeli Agency for International Development Cooperation (MASHAV).

The ambassador expressed his vision of multiplying the efforts to deepen friendly relations and cooperation with Angola, stating that the Israeli Embassy in Luanda is eager to form new partnerships and strengthen cultural and people-to-people ties. Having been in Angola for around two months, Vinovezky shared his admiration for the country and its people, expressing optimism about the future of Israel-Angola relations.

With over 22 years of diplomatic experience, Vinovezky has previously served in various countries, including Uruguay, the United States, and Ethiopia.
