Isiolo County Reports Smooth Conduct of KCPE and KPSEA Exams on Second Day

ISIOLO — The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and the Kenya Primary School Examination Assessment (KPSEA) exams entered their second day in Isiolo County without any reported incidents. The exams, which began on Monday, are scheduled to conclude on Wednesday, November 1, 2023.

According to Kenya News Agency, the county had prepared adequately for the national exams, with intervention measures in place for potential security risks and flooding. He also noted that sufficient personnel had been assigned to supervise the exams.

Approximately 10,000 students are registered for the two national exams in the county. The County Director of Education, Ms. Caroline Mugo, stated that 5129 candidates are taking the KCPE exam, including 2507 boys and 2622 girls. Additionally, 4590 candidates will sit for the KPSEA exam. Another 1871 candidates, consisting of 953 boys and 918 girls, are registered for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) in the county.

Ms. Mugo added that school heads and exam supervisors had been thoroughly briefed to maintain the credibility of the exams. The exam papers are being collected from seven distribution containers as early as 6:00 a.m. and are then escorted to the exam centers by security officers. The science paper began at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, with Kiswahili and Insha (Kiswahili composition) exams scheduled for later in the day.
