Sameta: The Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy will support the installation of public Wi-Fi networks in the Kisii region to enhance digital connectivity and enable youth to exploit opportunities in the digital economy space. Principal Secretary Stephen Isaboke announced the initiative, emphasizing collaboration with Kisii County and Governor Simba Arati to implement the program aimed at fostering innovation, competitiveness, and youth empowerment.
According to Kenya News Agency, Isaboke spoke at Sameta, Bobasi Constituency, during a gathering with Kisii County ODM leadership to welcome Party Leader Senator Dr. Oburu Odinga. He stressed the government's commitment to a broad-based economic agenda, highlighting development as the government's primary responsibility, rather than political rhetoric. 'Development is not rhetoric; it is delivery, and it must be measured in facts,' Isaboke stated.
He further mentioned President William Ruto's upcoming visit to Kisii County on January 29, where discussions will revolve around the NYOTA youth empowerment program, which includes disbursing approximately Sh 300 million to empower youth and support enterprise development.
Isaboke also called on leaders to focus on implementation over political rivalry, underscoring the importance of continuity in development. 'Before we speak of political positions or numbers, we must stand firmly behind development so that government commitments translate into lasting impact for our people,' he added.
Catherine Omanyo, ODM Deputy Secretary General and Women Representative for Busia County, highlighted that the party's discussions in Kisii were guided by its ten-point agenda, promoting governance, democracy, and social justice. 'The agenda reflects ODM's commitment to uniting Kenyans and building a democratic movement that places citizens at the center of political and economic decision-making,' Omanyo remarked.
The meeting was also attended by Migori County Governor Ochillo Ayacko, ODM National Chairperson Gladys Wanga, Minority Leader at the National Assembly Junet Mohammed, Deputy Governor of Kisii County Elijah Obebo, MP Nyaribari Chache Zaheer Jhanda, and Nominated MP Irene Nyakerario Mayaka, among other distinguished guests.
