Iran Criticizes Western Sanctions, Denies Selling Missiles to Russia

Tehran – Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, has strongly criticized new sanctions imposed by Western nations, which have accused Tehran of selling ballistic missiles to Russia. The fresh sanctions were announced by the United States, France, Britain, and Germany.

According to Namibia Press Agency, during an interview with Iran’s IRIB news agency published on Saturday, Araghchi expressed his disapproval of the Western approach, stating, “The Western states should know, and it is surprising that they still do not know, that sanctions are a failed tool and they will not be able to impose their intentions on Iran, whether with regard to the nuclear issue or other ones, through sanctions.” Araghchi emphasized that despite the sanctions, Iran would “continue its path with strength” and remained committed to constructive dialogue based on mutual respect, rather than succumbing to threats or pressure.

Additionally, Nasser Kanaani, a spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, refuted the allegations regarding missile sales to Russia, labeling them as “basically false.” Kanaani criticized the sanctions as counterproductive, suggesting that they exacerbate problems rather than contribute to their resolution. He also hinted that Iran would respond appropriately to these measures.
