Ioba: The “D¨m¨ Sira” Trophy Presented to the Province’s High Commissioner

Ioba: The Association for Nutrition and Health for Seniors (TA DAA) presented the 'D¨m¨ Sira' trophy, the 7th prize in the national competition for endogenous solidarity initiatives, to the High Commissioner of the Ioba Province, Innocents Ouattara, on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, in Dano.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the award, which includes a "D¨m¨ Sira" trophy and a cash prize of 600,000 CFA francs, was initially awarded to the association at the National Solidarity Gala on February 13, 2026, in Ouagadougou. The association's president, Sister Baonmissouan Victoria Som©, officially handed over the trophy to the head of the Ioba province during a formal ceremony.

Michel Tioro, the acting provincial director of Family and Solidarity for the Ioba region, stated that the competition was organized by the Ministry of Solidarity under the national "D¨m¨ Sira" campaign. This initiative aims to spotlight local solidarity practices such as community mutual aid, rotating savings and credit associations (ROSCAs), social sponsorship, and support for vulnerable individuals. It seeks to endorse local initiatives that bolster social cohesion, community resilience, and sustainable development. The TA DAA association's project was not only one of the top three projects from the Dj´r´ region but also chosen by the national jury as one of the ten best projects out of thirty-nine submissions from Burkina Faso's 13 regions.

In the national finals, the association earned a 7th place ranking. Sister Victoria Som© elaborated that TA DAA translates to "To worthily reach one's day of return to the Father."

TA DAA, with the slogan "The well-being of the elderly, our commitment," is dedicated to improving the lives of elderly individuals and vulnerable widows in the commune of Gu©gu©r©, Ioba province, and currently comprises sixty members.

High Commissioner Innocents Ouattara expressed his pride in the association's achievements and its presentation of the trophy to the province. He conveyed gratitude for their dedication to aiding the elderly and promoting local solidarity values in Ioba Province. Ouattara also encouraged other associations to diligently pursue their goals, submit activity programs, and provide regular reports for better administrative understanding of each organization's focus areas.

Dindom¨ Albert Som©, the president of the provincial council for senior citizens, praised the efforts of the TA DAA association for its support of the elderly, noting that the award honors the entire Ioba province and enhances community social cohesion.
