Ioba Residents March for Peace, Donate Over 2 Million CFA Francs to Support Fund

DANO - The provincial coordination of support for the Ioba transition handed over 2,176,700 CFA francs to the high commissioner of the province on Saturday, following a support march in Dano that demonstrated the community's commitment to peace and the national transition.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this march marks the second event of its kind organized by the provincial coordination of Ioba, following a similar demonstration earlier. The residents of Dano marched from the town hall to the high commission, passing by the gendarmerie, bearing flags of Burkina, Niger, Mali, and Russia, and vocalizing their support for the transition government led by Captain Ibrahim Traoré, and the local defense forces. The march culminated in the handing over of funds to Bernadette Adenyo/Sermé, the high commissioner, who was joined by local officials including André Lankoandé, the secretary general of the province, and Denis Zanré, the prefect of Dano.

Aristide Youorikiè Dabiré, the provincial transition support coordinator, emphasized the march's goal to reaffirm Ioba's unwavering support for Captain Traoré's leadership and the establishment of a confederation of the Alliance of Sahel States. He highlighted the sacrifices of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the volunteers for the defense of the homeland (VDP) in their efforts to reclaim national territories. Dabiré also advocated for a new constitution that reflects the aspirations of the people, along with the need for increased security measures such as the establishment of more police or gendarmerie stations across various municipalities.

High Commissioner Adenyo expressed gratitude towards the demonstrators for their continued financial and moral support in the fight against terrorism, emphasizing the crucial role each citizen plays in this battle. The event also featured patriotic songs and calls to action, urging residents to contribute positively to the nation's recovery efforts.
