Investment in Human Capital Prioritized in Angola’s Mining Sector

Luanda: Human capital investment is being prioritized in Angola's mining sector, as stated by Secretary of State for Mineral Resources JSnio Correia Victor during the opening ceremony of the second edition of the 'Mining Summit Angola'. He emphasized that a sustainable growth strategy is unattainable without consistent investment in human capital.

According to Angola Press News Agency, JSnio Correia Victor highlighted the sector's increasing focus on staff training institutions and the ongoing updates to curricula for mining professionals. He noted that the dynamic nature of Angola's mining industry necessitates the full operation of the entire value chain, urging the development of structures that support this dynamic.

The Secretary of State outlined the need for Angola's mineral resource management to be based on strategy, capacity building, and competitiveness. These pillars aim to enhance the mining sector's ability to produce value. Additionally, the imminent opening of Angola's first diamond exchange was discussed, although no specific date was provided. Authorities are working diligently to launch the exchange soon, after its original 2023 inauguration date was postponed.

The 'Mining Summit Angola,' themed 'Mining, Innovation and Sustainability in Angola,' is currently underway. It gathers authorities, experts, companies, and civil society organizations to evaluate the mining sector's future from technical, regulatory, and international viewpoints.
