Zambezi: The Regional Directorate of Education in the Zambezi Region has initiated an urgent investigation to determine the necessary actions to ensure a conducive teaching and learning environment at Kisako Primary School. This decision follows a planned peaceful demonstration by members of the Kisako (Kikiya, Sabelo, and Kolosi) community, who are demanding the removal of the school’s principal.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Regional Education Director Alex Sikume confirmed the investigation, stating that it will assist in deciding the necessary steps to address the concerns raised by the community. Sikume emphasized the importance of waiting for the investigation’s outcome before taking action.

On Wednesday, members of the Kisako community outlined their reasons for demanding the principal’s removal. They allege that the school lacks development in academic and extracurricular programs and accuse the principal of undermining the school board, led by Mulisa Mutame, by transferring teachers without the board’s approval. Additionally, they claim the principal is mistreating and intimidating staff, leading to declining morale among teachers and students.

However, the school’s principal, Geofrey Sitali, has dismissed some of these allegations. He stated that Kisako Primary School continues to perform well, as evidenced by a Best Performing School certificate and trophy awarded in 2024 by the regional education directorate. Sitali suggested that the calls for his removal are driven by a few community members influenced by the school board chairperson.

Sitali further claimed that the controversy arose from the conduct of a teacher who was transferred to another school as of July 1, 2025. He alleged that this teacher, who is the spouse of the school board chairperson, was reprimanded for absenteeism and failure to prepare lessons, leading to the current situation.

Meanwhile, Nampa reports that the teacher has successfully requested a transfer and will be stationed at another school from July 1, 2025.
