Malanje: The Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) seized a truck carrying 20,632 liters of W-10 hydraulic oil that was allegedly smuggled into the city of Malanje on Friday.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the SIC spokesperson, Alexandre Cambolo, stated that the 48-year-old driver was arrested for alleged involvement in the crime of embezzlement of subsidized goods purchased with state resources.
He explained that the arrest took place when SIC officers from the Department for Combating Organized Crime intercepted the suspect driving a Renault truck loaded with the oil in 1,000-liter barrels. Upon being questioned, the driver failed to produce any documents authorizing the transportation of the product.
The driver is currently in custody and will be presented to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for subsequent legal proceedings.
