Kuria: Mental-Real of State, an international organisation dedicated to promoting mental wellbeing, has honoured the Safe Engage Foundation, a local NGO based in Kehancha-Kuria, for its outstanding contributions to community development. The recognition came from Dr. Michael Freeland, the Founder and Creator of Mental-Real of State, during a celebration of the NGO’s achievements in transforming lives within the Kuria region.
According to Kenya News Agency, Mental-Real of State is a global initiative supported by I-Change Nations, operating in over 140 countries with the mission to foster a positive mindset among individuals. Dr. Freeland emphasized the need for global recognition of organisations like Safe Engage, which have been instrumental in advocating for the rights of women and girls and combating practices like female genital mutilation (FGM) and gender-based violence.

ised Safe Engage Foundation for its life-changing work and expressed the importance of acknowledging such efforts on a global scale. “I have come here to celebrate the achievements that Safe Engage has been doing in the Kuria region,” he stated.
Safe Engage Foundation, led by Christine Alfons, is a youth-driven initiative focused on empowering women and children in the Kuria community. The organisation has successfully engaged over 2,000 children in understanding their rights and economically empowered more than 360 women, while also fighting against harmful practices like FGM.
Alfons expressed gratitude for the recognition from Mental-Real of State, stating that it affirms the impactful work her organisation has been doing. She described the acknowledgment as the greatest fulfilment of her dreams, reinforcing the importance of their mission and efforts.
Additionally, Solomon Rioba, a community religious leader, was also recognised for his longstanding commitment to championing women’s and girls’ rights in
Kuria. Rioba noted that being acknowledged by an international organisation like Mental-Real of State is a significant milestone that will further inspire organisations to pursue their goals and contribute to a better world.
