International Waterfall Festival (FESTICAS) Inaugurated to Boost Tourism

Banfora: The Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Pingdwend© Gilbert OUEDRAOGO, presided over the opening ceremony of the first edition of the International Waterfall Festival (FESTICAS) on Thursday, April 10, 2025, in the City of the Black Peasant. This ceremony was attended by the authorities and nationals of the region.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the first edition of FESTICAS (International Cascades Festival) has successfully commenced under the theme: ‘Promoting the Burkina Faso destination.’ The festival, taking place from April 10 to 13, 2025, in Banfora, aims to promote Burkinabe culture, showcase the tourist sites of the Cascades region, and contribute to strengthening community life.



Promoter Mamadou KONE, alias ‘Yougos KONE,’ highlighted the festival’s objective to unite the sons and daughters of the Cascades region and other regions, while supporting the authorities in promoting culture and tourism. ‘We, the sons and daughters of the Cascades region, have a duty, through our ideas, to support our authorities in promoting cultural and tourist heritage,’ he stated.



The Minister in charge of Arts and Tourism, Pingdwend© Gilbert OUEDRAOGO, praised the strong public mobilization and encouraged the organizers and residents of the region to maintain their efforts, ensuring the festival’s growth over the years and inspiring other significant initiatives.
