Interior Ministry Reaffirms Commitment to Modernisation and Public Engagement

Luanda: The Ministry of the Interior (MININT) reaffirmed on Monday its commitment to institutional modernisation, the humanisation of services, and strengthening its connection with the public. Secretary of State for the Interior, Arnaldo Carlos, stressed this during the opening ceremony of the events marking the 47th anniversary of MININT, which will be celebrated on the 22nd of this month.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Carlos highlighted the role of MININT as a fundamental pillar in preserving social peace, public order, and defending citizens' rights, freedoms, and guarantees. The celebrations, running under the theme 'Ministry of the Interior - 47 Years: Modernising and Innovating Towards Institutional Excellence,' will continue until 13th July. This theme reflects the institution's ongoing historical commitment to security, institutional stability, and national development, aligning with current governance challenges.

Arnaldo Carlos emphasized that this vision encompasses the development of human resources, technological innovation, administrative modernisation, and enhancing the operational capacity of the ministry's bodies and services. The celebration program includes patriotic, educational, civic, cultural, recreational, and sporting activities planned across all provinces.

Activities lined up include a round-table discussion on preventing and reducing road accidents in Angola, talks on law enforcement officers' roles, visits to hospitalised staff, tree-planting campaigns, blood and breast milk donation drives, and sports tournaments. Additionally, new facilities aimed at strengthening operational response capacity and improving staff working conditions will be inaugurated.

Among these projects are the U­ge Provincial Delegation, Dande Integrated Municipal Service facilities in Bengo province, Cuquema Prison, Andulo Integrated Municipal Service in Bi©, and the Itanda and Tchissanda Border Guard Posts in Lunda Norte province. The Secretary of State underscored that 47 years after its inception, MININT remains a central institution in national public security, supported by the dedication and patriotic spirit of its personnel.

He assured that the ministry continues to focus on modernisation, humanisation, and institutional resilience, with an emphasis on enhancing the technical and professional skills of its personnel and offering more efficient, rapid, and community-oriented public services.
